On September 23, 2015, one year after Anthony's life saving surgery, he returned to Yale New Haven Children's Hospital at 17-months-old. This time, his trip was to give back to the place that helped save his life. Anthony collected items to fill 32 "Bags of Hope," including snacks, water, toys, resources, and homemade blankets of comfort.
In addition, Anthony collected hundreds of dollars of gift cards that could be distributed to families who had long stays in the hospital without a lot of resources.
Anthony's Army Bags of Hope Project has become an annual project that targets a deserving organization each year. The project celebrates Anthony's "cranniversary" and gives back to those in need in honor of Anthony's success.
Anthony's Army Documentary
Anthony's Army paired with DirectLine Media to create a documentary on Anthony's journey and his Bags of Hope project. As an added effort to raise awareness for pediatric brain tumors, this documentary has been shared across many pediatric brain tumor platforms.
World Superhero Day
The SCSU LYM crew set up a special day to bring some fun and joy to Anthony's life. They met him in Antler Park at the Milford Elks, prepared with toys and activities to keep him laughing all afternoon.
Anthony's laughter could be heard from the parking lot as he played hide-and-seek, wiffle ball, painted, and played with cars and superheroes.
Of course the girls brought some awesome LYM gear to give to all of us who were there for the event.
Anthony even brought some LYM gear to his amazing therapists at KidSense in Milford, CT. As HUGE LYM fans, they were excited to see all LYM did for Anthony that special day.
Love Your Melon
Anthony met the girls from the SCSU Love Your Melon Crew at an event for childhood cancer. Right away he fell in love with this wonderful group of girls raising awareness for childhood cancer and spreading the mission of Love Your Melon.
Dedicated to deliver a hat to ever child battling cancer in America, LYM is a fierce advocate of childhood cancer.
The girls with the Southern Connecticut State University Crew work to spread awareness of the brand in our area of the state.
